May 5th is Children's Day !
Panasonic Corporation has been publishing ’The Future Imagination Newspaper’ in collaboration with the Asahi Shimbun every year since 2022, celebrating Children's Day as ‘A Day to Think about the Future’.
The team contacted Pocko to find an illustrator to visualize an ‘Evacuation Shelter in 2042’, the theme on Panasonic’s page. After some thoughtful discussions, we decided that Simon Landrein was the right artist for the project.
This dreamlike shelter utilises Panasonic's three cutting-edge technologies: glass-based Perovskite solar cells (which can be applied like paint), Kinari (a plant-based, sustainable plastic), and Novitek (plant growth stimulants). They make a comfortable shelter to live in both during disasters and in everyday life. The idea, put together by Panasonic's amazing team, was turned into a beautiful illustration by Simon.
This amazing vision, visualised by Simon in his unique style, was printed in newspapers and distributed to junior and senior high school students across the country. This offered young students a glimpse into the promising future made possible by Japan's proud technological achievements.
