Dal is a German animation director and illustrator specialized in 2D frame-by-frame animation, both digitally and hand-drawn. Her work is vibrant and colorful with playful humor that often touches on the surreal. She explores storytelling through character performance, timing, transitions and exaggerated perspectives, balancing humor, emotion, and a subtle sense of strangeness in everyday life.
Dal’s independent films have been highly accoladed and screened at festivals across the world including Pictoplasma, Encounters Film Festival, Bit Bang Festival, Animafest Zagreb, Moderna Museet Malmö. Her process begins with sketching on paper to develop visual language and characters, followed by storyboarding and animation. She works across a range of formats, including GIFs, illustration, music video, explainer films, and longer animated projects.
