A little while ago we had the lovely Joni Majer send us some goodies in the post including her tear off wall calendars – which we absolutely fell in love with! Since then we’ve kept in contact and recently we’ve been lucky enough to have had Joni join the Makers roster!
Joni was born in the wild Berlin of the 1980s. After school she lived in France where she also wanted to study art. Since she couldn’t get into any art schools in France she found her way back to Germany, in Saarbrücken, a small town near the french border.
She still happily lives, loves and works with her family in Saarbrücken. After perfecting the art of drawing twisted thoughts and surrealist imagery in the most simple way, Joni continues to push herself to experiment with other materials, ideas and ways of constructing her creative projects.
Whether it is working across 2D or 3D mediums, Joni always strives to dive deep on the substance of the subject and add another layer of meaning. Often working with clean lines and a restricted black and white colour palette, Joni communicates the most surreal and complex of subjects matters with finesse.
Joni has worked with clients including – Greenpeace, The New York Times, De Standaard newspaper, Die Zeit newspaper, Penguin Random House, Teen Vogue and Urban Outfitters.
