Meet me at the Met
For this year’s Teen Takeover hosted in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Jiaqi Wang was selected to design the visuals for this youthful event.
Teen Takeover is one of the Met's most charged annual events: a night when one of the world's most iconic cultural institutions hands itself over entirely to young people, filling its galleries with creativity, movement, and community.
Jiaqi's illustration work carries a warmth and specificity that makes even large-scale, multi-layered scenes feel intimate, in which every figure, every gesture, every detail are placed with intention. For the Met commission, she channelled that sensibility into visuals that reflect the full spirit of the night: the excitement of young people moving through grand spaces, the creative energy that fills every corner, and the sense of collective belonging that makes Teen Takeover unlike anything else in the cultural calendar.
