Travel magazine AFAR recently featured Brian Finke’s vivid images of Mexico in the article The Rise of Mezcal, “I approached the assignment just as if I was vacationing in Oaxaca, so the excitement of traveling to the city would come through in the photographs.”

The pictures accompany an article exploring the culture of Mezcal bars in Oaxaca and the distillation process needed to produce the drink. “During the days we toured the beautiful, timeless palenque outside the city where the mezcal is distilled. Everyone was feeding us mezcal the entire time. Oaxaca was a beautiful place, it was an amazing work vacation!”
